Through therapy, we help children and adolescents (ages 8 and up) address issues of sadness, anxiety, fear and worry, social isolation, lack of motivation, anger, identity issues, overuse and misuse of the internet, drug and alcohol abuse or dependence, self-injury and extreme emotional distress. When working with children and adolescents, we work from a family systems perspective. This allows each family member to gain objectivity and insight into their own beliefs and patterns of behavior that impact the family resulting in more effective communication between family members and improved relationships.
We offer parent consultations and ongoing family therapy to help parents understand their own individual psychology and how it impacts their parenting style, identify ineffective patterns, and work collaboratively to develop a new approach to parenting based on empathy, respect, calm and focused discipline techniques and improved communication and connection.
