Through therapy, we help adolescents (ages 12 and up) address issues of sadness, anxiety, fear and worry, social isolation, lack of motivation, anger, identity issues, overuse and misuse of the internet, self-injury and emotional distress. When working with teens, we use a family systems perspective. This allows each family member to gain objectivity and insight into their own beliefs and patterns of behavior resulting in more effective communication between family members and improved relationships.
We offer parent consultations and ongoing family therapy to help parents understand their own individual psychology and how it impacts their parenting style; identify ineffective patterns, and work collaboratively to develop a new approach to parenting based on empathy, respect, calm and focused discipline techniques and improved communication and connection. We also work with adult children/sibling groups, and older parents, addressing long-standing issues and patterns of behavior and disconnection, resulting in increased understanding and improved relationships.
